| Textbook: | Greek for the Rest of Us by William D. Mounce The New Greek-English Interlinear New Testament (Tyndale House version) |
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the basics of Biblical Greek, the original language of the writings of the New Testament.* In the course students will learn to pronounce Greek words; to read select passages of the New Testament (including 1 John); to use various study tools to examine the Bible in greater depth; and to better understand how early Greek manuscripts were used to form the New Testament. Rather than approaching the study of Greek as an intellectual exercise, the course will treat it as a tool for ministry and reading God's word.

| Textbook: | Business as Mission - a Comprehensive Guide to Theory and Practice by C. Neal Johnson God is at Work - Transforming People and Nations Through Business by Ken Eldred Great Commission Companies by Steve Rundle and Tom Steffen |
This course will challenge the 20th century assumption that God's way to reach the world is through the professional clergy (i.e. missionary). Biblical, historical and missiological case studies and stories will demonstrate that God anticipates that all believers will participate in the making of disciples of all nations. The particular focus will be on business people in the work place (in North America and abroad) as the primary means to spread the gospel in the 21st century.

| Textbook: | The Book of Proverbs (The Cambridge Commentary) by R.N. Whybray |
"Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding" (Proverbs 3:13). In this course learners discover the role of wisdom in the Book of Proverbs by doing an exegetical study of its contents in their cultural, historical, and literary settings. The course begins with an analysis of the book's structure and purpose, focusing on the forms of wisdom literature as seen in the literary structure of Proverbs. The lecturer, Dr. Bruce Waltke, then moves to poetic analysis and finally to the prominent theme of wisdom that permeates the book. Students are encouraged to apply wisdom themes to life.

| Textbook: | Luke (New International Bible Commentary) by C.A. Evans |
At the heart of Luke's Gospel are questions about God's plan, his Messiah, and the emerging new community of Gentile Christians. In this course, students complete a textual examination of the Gospel of Luke and its message by working through the argument of Luke at one chapter per lecture. The purpose of the lecturer, Dr. Darrell Bock, is to show "how Jesus' life, teaching, death, and resurrection actually reflect divine events 'fulfilled among us' (Luke 1:1)." The course enables students to prepare this narrative material for teaching in ministry, and to apply the message of Luke to life.
