RANSOM WEAR BIO:  Many people are familiar with the country of Nepal because it is home to some of the tallest mountains in the world, including Mount Everest.  But Nepal is also home to thousands of young women who have been kidnapped and sold into sexual slavery in the country of India.  Without intervention, these women will remain in brutal captivity with little hope of ever returning home alive.

When you purchase Randsom Wear, you play a vital role in the rescue, rehabilitation and reintegration of these women.  Randsom Wear generously contributes funds that will: help fund the physical act of rescue, provide counseling to the rescued women, and offer an excellent working wage job as an alternative to returning to the hopeless sex trade.  Thousands of young girls live in poverty and despair.  When someone comes along to offer them a better life, most cannot resist the chance to try.  What they don’t know is that the offer is often “too good to be true”.  Instead of a better life as a wife or employee, they are sold to the brothels in India where they work long hours and receive little pay.  Dreams are broken and reality brings despair.  There is hope for these women!  Men and women in Nepal are working to stop this human trafficking and rescue these girls.  There are three main approaches used: Preventative Education: Providing much needed classes to help young girls recognize the strategies of those who seek to use them.  Border Patrols:  Staff workers monitor boarder crossing to “catch” the offenders in the process of taking girls out of Nepal.  Rescue Efforts: By partnering with other organizations based in India, girls are either ransomed or rescued from the brothels and returned to Nepal.

Once these women return to Nepal, they are able to stay in our centers where they receive food, a bed, counseling and job training.  In the Nepal culture, these ladies would be shunned by their families and by society.  Confidentiality protects them from further pain as they receive much needed help.  Many of these girls learn to knit, sew and to make crafts.  Ransom Wear will purchase their items to sell in the United States with much of the proceeds going back to assist with the overall work in rescue, rehabilitation, and reintegration.

Ransom Wear is a non-profit, humanitarian effort that seeks to partner with other organizations in third world nations to stop human trafficking.  In addition, we encourage women to take an active role in their rehabilitation and reintegration.  Most of these women work from their homes.  Their hand-made items are high quality both in materials and workmanship.
