Kilns Summer Fundraiser!

June 16th, 2011

What better way to kickoff this summer than with an evening of music and BBQ at sunset in the Old Mill Marketplace.

Join us Sunday, June 26th, for Summer SoulSpeak, benefiting Kilns College. This event features local favorite Erin Cole-Baker and the soulful music of the New Heart Congolese Choir. This unique group of men and women are Congolese refugees that have been resettled in Idaho; in each song, they share their story of hope and …redemption. As you enjoy the concert, you will be served a full spread from the local favorite Baldy’s BBQ.

Throughout the evening there will be a silent auction with over fifty opportunities to win prizes of all sizes ranging from local artwork to a weekend get-away! All proceeds from this event benefit Kilns College here in Bend, OR.

Advanced ticket price is $20, which includes dinner. Tickets can be purchased at the Kilns Bookstore located in the Old Mill Market Place or can be reserved via email email at info@kilnscollege.org

When: Sunday, June 26 at 5:00 pm

Where: Kilns Bookstore, 550 SW Industrial Way at the Old Mill Market Place

Black Friday News

November 26th, 2010

Hey all!

Black Friday… that day of the year that we all get up around 5am (Unless you’re really, REALLY dedicated to shopping…) and hit the shops! Personally, I was up at 5:30am; I never was much of a shopper.

Now, the thing to do on Black Friday (so much more frightening bolded, isn’t it?) is hit ALL the sales, am I right? Striding through the malls (or, in Central Oregon, through the rain, snow and sleet in our outdoor shopping centers), pushing poor souls out of the way, and finding that lovely way to cut in front of people without them knowing you did it (Hey!! Ohmygosh, I haven’t seen you since Elementary School, how are you?? Oh, it’s my turn, call me sometime, see ya!!)…

But there is another side to Black Friday… a side that doesn’t include the crazy consumerism, but does include the awesome clothing; we call it… The Kilns.

All day today we’ve had AMAZING sales on all our items!! TOMS, Rise Up, Ransom Wear, Amani ya Juu, books, cards, CDs, and beautiful framed pictures! (Oh, and a whooole lot more!!)

Right about now, you’re probably thinking, “Why was I not informed of this??” Ah, well… there’s always next year… but I am loving my new black TOMS!! (Oh, and we’re open until seven tonight… so there is still time!!)

Another thing I’m loving… I’m sitting in the Kilns, drinking my peppermint latte, listening to Christmas music and enjoying the fact that I’m inside…

God bless, all!

Here it comes…

October 25th, 2010

I woke up this morning at 6:30, and it. was. freezing. I hate to be the one to break it to you, but winter has officially arrived in Central Oregon. Did anyone see snow last night? I most certainly did. On that note, I decided to put in a picture of Kilns in its warmer days… mmm, remember those? Look at that sunshine, look at that blue sky!

I think there is all of one good thing about winter: yeah, you know I’m going to say it: coffee. Waking up early, hitting up the Kilns Bookstore, and drinking coffee while studying for midterms! (THIS WEEK!!!)

But, despite the chilliness, this is a beautiful time of year, and I thank God through the rain, the clouds, the snow (yessirree, folks, I saw it last night), and the wind for giving me such a beautiful town to live in, a fabulous place to drink coffee, and this blog to express my happiness in!

God bless, Kilnsites! Enjoy the cold!
