Rick Gerhardt on the Go!

March 1st, 2011

The quality of professorship at Kilns College has stood as strong testament to our commitment to excellence in our classrooms. We have been blessed to house some of the most well trained and experienced minds of Central Oregon. A number of our professors are pursuing further degrees and are sought after for their comprehensive understanding of their given field.

In fact, this past month our very own Rick Gerhardt was asked to be the keynote speaker at a weekend men’s retreat in eastern Indiana. Rick was asked to address a variety of apologetics and chose to present An Introduction to Apologetics, A Critique of Naturalism in Science, The Reliability of the New Testament, and The Historicity of the Resurrection. The audience was mostly highly-educated, deeply committed Christians, and the questions and discussions were accordingly stimulating.  His son, Jasper, went along, and helped open up each session with a humorous or thought-provoking skit.

Rick serves on the Board of Directors of Kilns College and teaches a number of classes on Science & the Bible and Critical Thinking. If you are interested in having Rick speak to your group on Christian apologetics issues, he can be contacted at rick@kilnscollege.org.

Science and the Bible

January 6th, 2011

Ever had questions about how science interacts with the Bible, Christianity, and faith?  Check out Rick Gerhardt’s course this Spring on Science and the Bible.

Rick Gerhardt is the president and owner of Sage Science, a small ecological research company in Central Oregon. He has traveled throughout much of North, Central, and South America and the Caribbean conducting research of owls and hawks.

Rick holds an M.Sc. in Raptor Biology from Boise State University and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from BIOLA. Rick is a volunteer apologist for Reasons To Believe, Director of Apologetics and an elder at Antioch Church in Bend, and serves on our Board of Directors of  and of the Apologetics Guild.

What better way to explore the interaction of science and the Bible than with such an experienced and well studied professor!

See Rick in action answering hot topic questions on Science and the Bible at Antioch’s Q & A service, Redux.

Stay posted on Rick’s studies on his blog, Pereginations.

Kilns College Reformation History Trip

December 2nd, 2010

A group of brave euro travelers recently returned from a two-week trek through Germany, Switzerland and Italy where they traced hundreds of years of Church history.

The group was on the first ever Kilns College History Trip and it was quite a success! From Wittenberg to Rome, Zurich to Florence the group was lead by expert local guides through the historic cities and landmarks throughout Europe. In two quick weeks we saw more church history, famous architecture, and renowned art that you can learn about in an entire semester! It was jam-packed and everyone loved every minute!

Below are some snapshots from the trip, to see more check out our facebook page!

Black Friday News

November 26th, 2010

Hey all!

Black Friday… that day of the year that we all get up around 5am (Unless you’re really, REALLY dedicated to shopping…) and hit the shops! Personally, I was up at 5:30am; I never was much of a shopper.

Now, the thing to do on Black Friday (so much more frightening bolded, isn’t it?) is hit ALL the sales, am I right? Striding through the malls (or, in Central Oregon, through the rain, snow and sleet in our outdoor shopping centers), pushing poor souls out of the way, and finding that lovely way to cut in front of people without them knowing you did it (Hey!! Ohmygosh, I haven’t seen you since Elementary School, how are you?? Oh, it’s my turn, call me sometime, see ya!!)…

But there is another side to Black Friday… a side that doesn’t include the crazy consumerism, but does include the awesome clothing; we call it… The Kilns.

All day today we’ve had AMAZING sales on all our items!! TOMS, Rise Up, Ransom Wear, Amani ya Juu, books, cards, CDs, and beautiful framed pictures! (Oh, and a whooole lot more!!)

Right about now, you’re probably thinking, “Why was I not informed of this??” Ah, well… there’s always next year… but I am loving my new black TOMS!! (Oh, and we’re open until seven tonight… so there is still time!!)

Another thing I’m loving… I’m sitting in the Kilns, drinking my peppermint latte, listening to Christmas music and enjoying the fact that I’m inside…

God bless, all!
